What is Chemistry?

We are all made in a certain way. We can improve the good traits we have and change the bad traits we have. But the truth is, you are who you are and you cannot change that. You may pretend and conform all you want for as long as you can, if that's what gets you noticed and liked. But let's face it, one day you will realize that the only way for you to be truly happy is when you are accepted and loved as yourself. Chemistry is a natural thing. One day you will find the person who will like and love you for who you truly are.

In science

Chemistry is the mixing of different chemicals to make a formula that serves a certain purpose. Some chemicals, when mixed together, react to each other and create a formula that is useful to the chemist. On the other hand, some chemicals, when mixed together, react violently with each other and may even lead to an explosion. Just like the cartoon sequences where two chemicals are mixed together and the flask explodes? It really can happen, you know? And that is bad chemistry.

In friendship

It somehow has the similar concept when we talk about chemistry among friends. You may notice that even though you go out with a group of friends, there is that one person in the group that you call your BFF or Best Friend Forever. That one special friend is the person you prefer to sit beside to. That person is the one you talk to, joke with and agree with the most. That person is the one you call when you have a problem or a juicy secret or gossip to tell. This can also happen with people who meet on online dating websites. You can easily see if you get along with the way you chat with each other.

When two people dance, usually the term chemistry is also used to describe how well they move together and express the same feeling of a dance. The word Chemistry is also used to describe harmony between co-workers. Many people quit their jobs due to bad chemistry with their bosses or due to conflict with the people in the office. People search for a work environment that is happy, fun and comfortable, and this happens when you build good rapport with the people you work with.

When two people meet, they talk and find that they are compatible with each other and they get along well. This may develop into a beautiful romantic relationship soon. On the other hand, there are times that people realize that their chemistry is bad and that they both have nothing in common. This is your usual boring date experience. Chemistry can easily be detected on the first date and will be your indicator if you are you are to pursue a deeper relationship with the person, or at least plan another date. You can have the harmonious "fake chemistry" for as long as you can tolerate saying yes to everything your partner asks of you. The question is, do you really want a relationship built on pretension?
